Aldgate Club East FC were crowned as East London Summer League Division 1 champions, which is sponsored by Canary Wharf. For the last few years the team have experienced the pain and agony after coming so close to winning major championships within the local community. Being crowned as Division 1 champions was down to Manager Hassan Khan who started off with a very young squad since the club was established back in 2005. Within the last couple of years he has managed to nurture his young players from boys into men, as well as recruiting additional players in order to strengthen his squad. This was their first major honour in their debut season. The success will give the manager and the team a firm platform to build on for the future, as they go on search for more silverware. So let this be the 'start of something new.'
In the summer of 2007 ACE FC participated in Canary Wharf's First Division. With several strong oppositions including Stepney FC, Newham Stars and Old Ford FC. ACE kicked off their campaign with a 4-1 win against Stepney FC and were unaware of their opposition's starting line-up. En route to the title ACE defeated Robin Hood FC 4-2; THYL United 6-1 and Newham Stars 4-1 before losing their 100% record after they drew 2-2 against Somali Oceans and 1-1 against East and City. Having played cat and mouse to Elite Youth FC for the majority of the season, ACE knew that they had to win their remaining three games in order to secure promotion to the premier division, which included playing against Elite Youth FC. They had a very tough game against Old Ford FC after overturning a one goal deficit before goals from Syed Ali and Ben Chukwu-onu sealed them with an immense victory. ACE won their remaining two games in, which Elite Youth FC lost 3-1, which saw them overtake the league leaders at the top of the summit by 2 points. With the final game approaching it meant that any two of the top three contenders could end up playing premiership football next term. Luckily ACE finished top of the league without a kicking a ball. Although Stepney FC, Somali Oceans and Elite Youth FC had the same number of points, Elite Youth FC finished as runners-up because of their goal difference.
